The Amplification ratio / Intensification ratio is the ratio of the cross sectional area of the hydraulic cylinder on the injection unit to the cross sectional area of the check- ring or screw.

A1 = the cross sectional area of the hydraulic cylinder

A2 = The cross sectional area of the closed check-ring on  the end of the screw.

Amplification is the factor between hydraulic cylinder pressure and the plastic pressure.

  • Determines fill pressure of plastic.

  • Determines pack pressure of plastic.

  • Determines back pressure of plastic.

  • Was considered 10:1 on most machines or so it was thought

  • The intensification ratio now varies on new machines.
